Eco church – Community and Global Engagement and Lifestyle

Although we still have a lot to consider in these last two categories we have achieved enough to reach the Bronze level in both of these sections. Over the next few months we can look at how we, as a church, can have a greater environmental impact on the community around us and what else we can do as individuals to improve our own carbon footprints. There is so much conflicting and confusing messaging out there that it can feel very daunting and we may feel unsure about which are the best actions to take or changes to make. Hopefully, as this award scheme takes momentum, people will feel inspired to share tips, ideas or even articles from respected newspapers or other verified media sources to encourage each other. Next month a couple of us will be meeting with members from Romsey Methodist Church who have gained their Gold Award to learn about the work they have been doing and the events they have held to promote the scheme to the local community.

However, in the meantime I am delighted to announce that we as Trinity Church have reached the required criteria in all of the relevant categories to obtain the Eco Church Bronze Award.

Well done to everyone who has contributed to getting this award and especially to the Girls Brigade who have taken such an active and practical role in learning and sharing the importance of looking after God’s wonderful creation.

Let’s get inspired!
