Eco Thought - Times and seasons

Autumn has suddenly hit us and now the clocks have gone back the days are definitely getting shorter. It may feel depressing but as the Psalmist writes God still provides for all He has created.

Psalm 104 v 19-23 , 27
You have made the moon to mark the seasons;
The sun knows its time for setting.
You make the darkness, and it is night, when all the animals of the forest come creeping out.
The young lions roar for their prey, seeking their food from God.
When the sun rises, they withdraw and lie down in their dens.
People go out to their work and to their labour until evening.
All creatures look to you, to give them their food in due seasons.
The alternation of day and night, the regularity of the seasons of the years are an essential aspect of the Earth’s habitability for living creatures, which accommodates different creatures differently.

This year has seen a real bumper crop of acorns so the pigs in the New Forest will be out much longer, the blackberry bushes have produced amazing fruit this year and the apple trees, grape vines and other fruiting trees have produced a surplus amount of produce. Earlier in the year when we were facing droughts the fear was there would be a be impact on agriculture. Unfortunately, the wheat and maize types of crops have suffered producing limited yields but other species have flourished.
The season and time are all part of Gods amazing plan. So, even as the darker days draw in let us give God thanks for this incredible world and all it supplies, sharing its gifts fairly with everyone and every living thing.
